Then the excitement was brought to a higher level. Earlier in the night, two in a row Super Stock winner Shawn Malsam was asked by association president Larry Dickenson if he take the ultimate challenge where he would for go his starting spot in the A-Main and start at the last position and if he won . Malsam could take home a purse that most Late Model drivers might win, received nearing 900 hundred dollars total for the night. After some thought and remembering what he said the week before about going for it, Malsam took the challenge that brought a huge roar from the crowd. 15 cars took the green followed by countless yellows for unassisted spins and mishaps. Some of the same drivers didn’t find their cars handling well on the slickened track that was starting to show a reflected appearance and pulled in. Shawn Schnabel was first to go, followed by John Miller, Troy Oschner, pole sitter Carson Gramm, plus Nick Shipke. Tim Compson , who started fourth fell back from a spin and could never get back to contention finishing 10th. Kevin Robertson liked his number 2 starting spot to stay up front all night. . Kevin did Feel pressure from William Wadeson Earlier and as the laps winded down had more company in the names of Todd carter, who slipped passed Brian Bernotas and Dave Shipley to take home second. Bernotas took home 3rd, Shipley 4th and Wadeson 5th...Malsam did move up a few positions but had to settle for 6th with Travis Berends, Erik Robertson and Shane Tendleland nipping on his heels to all finish in the top ten.

Double Down
It was another good night of racing at Sheyenne River Speedway for Team Robertson. The night started ok, with both cars drawing good for the heat races. Kevin and Erik drew the 2nd heat and front row; with Erik on the pole. After the green flag, Kevin jumped into the lead and was able to pull away to win the heat. Erik was able to hold his own for a nice 3rd place finish in the same heat. With both drivers finishing in the top 3, they were able to get in the point average redraw. This would put Kevin in the outside pole and Erik in the 4th starting spot.
The start of the Feature turned out to be good for Jim Beam Racing; as Kevin was able to jump into the lead. Both cars were running good. Kevin in the lead and Erik running top 5. Just then, Erik’s car got really loose as he cut his driver’s side rear tire. After getting the tire changed, we were able to get Erik back on the track just before the restart. After the restart, Kevin held the lead and was able to pull away to win his first race of the year at Sheyenne River Speedway. With Kevin sweeping Sunday night, it made it back to back wins at Lisbon for Team Robertson.

The Wait is Over
The wait is over for young Erik Roberts, as he was able to get his first feature win in his super stock. It was a very good day at Lisbon for both Dr. McGillicuddy's Racing and Jim Beam Racing. The heat race had both, Kevin and Erik in the same heat with Kevin starting 2nd and Erik 4th. After the start of the race, both Kevin and Erik were able to work their way to the front. The heat race had Kevin winning and Erik in 2nd.
The feature had Kevin starting on the pole and Erik starting on the outside in 2nd. The beginning laps of the race had Kevin and Erik racing side by side. After a few laps, Erik was able to work his way around his dad and take the lead. About the middle of the race Todd Carter was able to pass Kevin and was trying to catch up to Erik. Both Todd and Erik had a nice race going. Todd was running the bottom and Erik on the high side. With 2 laps to go, the yellow flag came out again. The last restart had Erik in the lead then Todd and Kevin in 2nd and 3rd. Todd was able to try one last time to pass Erik on the bottom but Erik was able to pull away at the line to pick up his first feature win.

Back to Back
This Wednesday might have been a cooler night but Team Robertson was hot. Kevin was in the 2nd heat of the supers and had to work his way up to get a nice 3rd place finish. Erik looked really good in his heat also. He was running well in 2nd place tell the last lap when Billy Michealson got around him, which lead to a nice 3rd place finish in his heat.
The cars were ready for the feature after grinding some of Erik’s tires, little set-up work, and gas to both cars. For most of the feature Erik was running about 3rd place with Kevin right behind him. As the feature was coming to an end, Kevin made his move. After slipping around Erik on the inside and getting around Billy, Kevin was on the hunt. With 2 laps left Luke Johnson had a little lead with about 3 car lengths. After getting the white flag Kevin got right up to Luke’s back bumper in turn 2. In turn 3 and 4 Kevin got right inside of Luke and by the time they got to the line Kevin nosed out Luke for the win. It was another great night of racing for Jim Beam racing and DR. McGillicuddy racing.

Weekday Success
This week success started Monday at Sheyenne River Speedway in Lisbon ND. We used the high speed ¼ mile speedway as a little test session for both of the cars. The changes made to Kevin’s car looked like it helped. On the other side, the changes made to Erik’s car did not help at all. Kevin had a nice 2nd place finish in his heat race and Erik came in 5th in his.
After filling up the cars with gas, doing some little set-up and tire work, both cars were ready for the feature. Erik’s car was still a handful and he finished the feature about where he started. Kevin’s car seemed to be working ok for him. He was able to work up some cars and was in a battle for 3rd for the last couple laps. William Wadeson just edged out Kevin at the line. But, it was still a nice 4th place finish.
The next race was Wednesday at Red River Valley Speedway in Fargo ND. After doing some work on the cars the night before, we were ready do to some racing on the new 3/8 mile track. Erik and Kevin were in the same heat. Both the cars were looking good as Kevin came in with a nice 2nd place finish. Erik had 2 nice passes in the last couple laps to come in with a nice 3rd place finish. In the feature, both cars had good starting positions with Kevin starting 2nd and Erik starting 3rd. Each car hand a good start. Dustin Blahm was able to get around Kevin at that start for the lead. Couple laps latter, Kevin was able to work his way back around him on the bottom side and was able to take the lead. Erik fell back a little as he got stuck behind a car. He was able to hold his own for a good top 10 finish. After taking the lead, Kevin started to pull away from the field a little. The laps seemed to take forever, but finally the checkered flag flowed over Kevin for his first feature win of the year.
